What to Expect When Adopting a Horse From Us

1) All of our horses, ponies, and donkeys are properly quarantined after being removed from auction or feedlot situations.

2) All animals will be dewormed prior to adoption.

3) All animals will be given appropriate farrier work, if necessary, prior to adoption.

4) All of our animals will be evaluated to the best of our ability prior to adoption.

5) We will provide as much paperwork to you as is possible.  Please understand that feedlot owners are not willing to deal with the hassle of doing coggins and health certificates on horses we rescue.  They would rather just ship them to slaughter, so in some cases these animals have been transported from out of state with the appropriate "legal" paperwork.  We try our best though!

6) There are no guarantees on rescue horses and we will not refund adoption fees.  However, we will exchange a rescue horse or pony and come to an arrangement to find something to fit your needs better.  Please keep in mind that nearly all the time, the animal has ended up in the situation for a reason.  The most common reason is a simple lack of training, followed by injured or lame "companion only" horses, and more rarely ingrained behavioral issues.  We try provide our adopters with animals with maximum potential for usefulness in the future, but since it is nearly impossible to thoroughly evaluate an animal prior to rescue sometimes our rescues may need extensive behavioral rehabilitation.

Justin(roan) and Rainbow. I outbid the slaughter buyer at the local sale to rescue them.  Justin weighed just 700 lbs.and we later found out through brand research he spent 18 years at a children's camp in Estes Park!  AFter 18 years of service he was discarded because he could no longer hold his weight on just grass with the busy work regimen. Both were sound, healthy, and easily adopted to new loving homes.

Cochiti, a 5 year old pony gelding, rescued directly from a Nebraska slaugther feedlot.
